Do you feel like your eyes always look tired, even when you’ve had a good night’s sleep? If so, you may be a candidate for upper eyelid surgery. Dr. Fathimani offers personalized upper eyelid surgery in Denver to reverse the signs of aging and make your eyes look alert.
Make Your Eyes Look Youthful & Radiant
As we age, our skin begins to sag and wrinkle. The first place this often becomes noticeable is around our eyes. Excess skin on the upper eyelids can lead to a tired and frustrated appearance, even if you feel bright and jovial. Furthermore, excess eyelid skin can also create a droopy, hooded appearance and obscure your vision. Dr. Fathimani offers a highly personalized upper eyelid surgery to reverse the signs of aging and make you look radiant.
What is Upper Eyelid Surgery?
Upper eyelid surgery, also called “upper blepharoplasty” is a cosmetic procedure to improve the appearance of the upper eyelids. The surgery can correct drooping or sagging eyelids, reduce facial wrinkles around the upper eyelids, and improve your overall facial appearance. The procedure generally involves making strategic incisions on the crease of the upper eyelids to remove excess skin and fat tissues, making your eyelids look smoother and more youthful.
Upper Eyelid Surgery Can Correct:
- Ptosis, where the eyelid droops down and blocks your vision
- Excess fat on the eyelid that makes the eye appear puffy
- Drooping, sagging, or hanging upper eyelids
- Wrinkles and creases around the eyes
- Tired-looking appearance

The Upper Eyelid Surgery Process
Upper eyelid surgery is usually done under local anesthesia, with sedation if desired. The surgeon makes a strategic incision along the natural lines of the upper eyelids, following which excess skin and fat deposits are removed. The surgeon only removes enough skin to correct the issue with sagging, leaving enough skin for normal functions. Sometimes, the surgeon removes a small portion of the orbicularis oculi muscle. The incisions are then closed with fine sutures.
Upper Eyelid Surgery: Recovery & Downtime
After the surgery, your eyelids will be swollen and bruised, and you may feel pain and discomfort. You’ll likely need to take it easy for a few days, and you may need to use ice packs and take pain medication to help with the discomfort. It’s also important to keep your head elevated to help reduce the swelling.
Most people recover from upper eyelid surgery in Denver within a week or two. However, it can take up to a month for the swelling and bruising to completely go away. You should avoid strenuous activity and exposure to the sun during this time. Wearing sunglasses can help protect your eyes from the sun and wind. You can resume strenuous workouts after 4 to 6 weeks.
