Loss of Facial Volume: The Root Cause of Wrinkles

The age-related loss of facial volume is the primary root cause of wrinkles and facial creases. When you’re young, your body produces a high volume of hyaluronic acid, elastin, and collagen, the components responsible for making your skin look taut, hydrated, and youthful. But as you grow older, your body’s ability to produce hyaluronic acid and collagen is compromised, leading to skin laxity, sagging skin, wrinkles, facial hollows, and other signs of aging, making you look old, tired, gaunt, and upset.

What are Dermal Fillers?

Dermal fillers are cosmetic injections that restore your skin’s depleting hyaluronic acid and/or collagen reserves. Dermal fillers are carefully injected into targeted facial tissues to fill out fine lines and wrinkles, restore facial volume to the cheeks, and elevate the natural contours of your face. Depending on the filler used, we can inject fillers into strategic locations to augment your cheeks, enhance the fullness of your lips, sculpt your nasal contours, and address other cosmetic goals.

Dermal Fillers Can Correct:

  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Nasolabial folds around the corners of the nose
  • Marionette lines around the corners of the mouth
  • Perioral lines and wrinkles around the lips
  • Gaunt or hollow cheeks
  • Deep tear troughs under the eyes
  • Thin lips lacking in volume or shape

Benefits of Dermal Fillers:

  • Minimally invasive treatment
  • Almost painless treatment
  • Personalized according to your needs
  • Restores facial volume
  • Reverses the signs of aging
  • Elevates natural facial contours
  • Almost no side effects or bruising
  • Resume your daily activities and work immediately

Types of Dermal Fillers

Juvéderm

Juvéderm is a collection of dermal fillers made of synthetic hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring gel that makes your skin look soft and supple. Hyaluronic acid can bind 1,000x its weight in water, so a high volume of HA can make your facial skin look voluminous and hydrated. Juvéderm fillers can reduce fine lines and wrinkles, smoothen away nasolabial folds and marionette lines, and enhance your lips.

Restylane

Restylane is one of the world’s leading collections of hyaluronic acid-based fillers. When injected into targeted facial tissues, Restylane fillers instantly add volume, fill out fine lines and wrinkles, and elevate your facial contours. Restylane fillers are known for being extremely soft and subtle. They can correct your cosmetic concerns without freezing your expressions or leaving prominent marks of cosmetic manipulation.

Sculptra

Sculptra is made of poly-L-lactic acid, a biocompatible and biodegradable material that activates your body’s innate collagen production capabilities. Collagen is a fibrous protein that binds your skin tissues together and makes your skin look firm and taut. When injected into targeted facial tissues, Sculptra is naturally absorbed by the body to stimulate collagen production, which reverses the signs of aging. The results are more gradual, but they last longer.

Dermal Fillers: Recovery & Downtime

Dermal fillers cause minimal side effects. You may experience mild redness, swelling, tenderness, and bruising around the injection sites, but there are no harsh complications. You may resume your daily activities and work immediately, but please avoid strenuous workouts and direct sunlight for a day or two.

Dermal Fillers: Results & Longevity

The results of dermal fillers usually appear instantly, especially Juvéderm and Restylane. However, Sculptra results appear gradually over several weeks as your body produces new collagen fibers. The final results last for 6 to 24 months, following which you may need additional maintenance treatments.

The Complete Dermal Filler Treatment

Your dermal filler treatment starts with a thorough consultation with our medical providers, who will examine your facial skin, discuss your goals and concerns, and curate a personalized treatment plan. Depending on your cosmetic goals and needs, the medical provider selects the appropriate dermal filler and marks the treatment areas.

The medical provider marks the injection points on your face, following which they cleanse your facial skin and apply a numbing gel. The chosen dermal filler is carefully injected into the targeted facial tissues using a blunt-tip cannula. The number of units depends on your goals and requirements. The entire treatment usually takes less than 30 minutes.
