Catalyze The Natural Healing Process

When you’re injured or wounded, your body kickstarts numerous cellular regeneration and healing properties. Your blood contains growth factors and other components that come to the rescue. They stimulate cellular regeneration, clot formation, and other processes that help you heal. In recent years, thanks to advances in modern science, we have learned to harness these properties to stimulate natural healing, helping you recover faster and more predictably after bone grafting and dental implant procedures.

Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) for Bone Grafting

The human blood consists of plasma, red blood cells, white blood cells, and platelets. Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is a component of your blood with a high concentration of platelets, the components responsible for most of the healing actions in your body. We draw a small sample of your blood before bone grafting, spin it in a centrifuge to isolate the white blood cells and platelets and place the serum at the bone grafting site. The PRP serum contains a high concentration of growth factors, which kickstarts the bone regeneration process.

Platelet-Rich Fibrin (PRF) for Bone Grafting

Platelet-rich fibrin is similar to PRP — a component of your blood that catalyzes the healing process. However, PRF is a gel-like membrane instead of a liquid serum. If your bone grafting or implant site doesn’t have enough gum tissues for optimal healing, the PRF gel is used to promote healing. The PRF sample is a synthetic barrier to cover the implant or bone grafting site, allowing your body to heal and regenerate rapidly. The PRF membrane also contains a high concentration of growth factors that promote healing.

Benefits of PRP/PRF for Bone Grafting:

  • Stimulate natural cellular regeneration
  • Facilitate a predictable and quick recovery from surgery
  • Catalyze your body’s ability to produce new bone tissues
  • Minimize the risk of complications after bone grafting
  • Make the healing process more predictable
  • Completely autologous — drawn from a part of your body
  • No risk of allergic reactions

Optimize Healing After Dental Implant Surgery

PRP and PRF can also be used after dental implant surgery to speed up recovery. Once an implant is placed, your body initiates osseointegration, whereby your jawbone tissues fuse with the implant surface. Optimal osseointegration is critical to the long-term success of your implants because it determines how firmly they are supported. After dental implant surgery, we can also place PRP/PRF at the implant site to catalyze osseointegration and shorten the post-surgery recovery period.
