Getting lip filler for the first time can be an exciting experience. Here are some general aspects to consider:
Consultation
Before the procedure, you will have a consultation with our qualified and experienced team at Rocky Mountain Surgical Arts. During the consultation, you can discuss your goals, concerns and ask any questions you may have.
Choosing the Filler
Your provider will help you choose a suitable filler based on your goals and preferences. Common fillers include hyaluronic acid-based ones like Juvederm or Restylane.
Procedure Time
The actual injection process is relatively quick, often taking less than thirty minutes, depending on the extent of the treatment.
Anesthetic
For your comfort, we apply a high strength topical numbing cream that’s compounded by our pharmacy specifically for our lip filler procedures. In the rare event the topical numbing is insufficient, Dr. Fathimani can give local anesthesia as well.
Injection Process
We mark the injection sites and then use a fine needle or cannula to inject the filler into the designated areas. You might feel some pressure, pinching, or mild discomfort, but it’s generally very well-tolerated.
What does 1 syringe (1mL) of filler look like
To give you a general idea, 1 mL of lip filler is a small amount, roughly equivalent to about 1/5th of a teaspoon. It’s important to note that the actual visual impact on the lips will depend on various factors, including the individual’s lip anatomy, the type of filler used and the desired outcome.
Immediate Results
You will see immediate results, but there might be some initial swelling and redness at the injection sites. The final results may take a few days to settle as any swelling subsides.
Possible Side Effects
Mild side effects can include swelling, bruising and redness, which are usually temporary.
Recovery
There is minimal downtime associated with lip filler injections. You can usually resume normal activities immediately, but it’s advisable to avoid strenuous exercise and certain medications that may increase the risk of bruising for a short period.
Follow-up
You will have a follow-up scheduled to ensure that you are healing well and to address any concerns or touch-ups if necessary.
It’s crucial to choose a qualified and experienced professional to perform the procedure. Be open during the consultation and carefully follow any pre and post-care instructions provided. Additionally, results are not permanent and the longevity of the filler will depend on the type used and individual factors
